Unsafe Rourkela: Days after rape of 2 minor sisters, another minor girl gang raped by 5 men in Steel City

A few days after a minor girl was gang raped and her elder sister, who is also a minor, was sexually assaulted near Birsa Munda Chhak, another minor girl was allegedly gang raped at a restaurant near Raghunathpali police station in Rourkela, the steel city of Odisha.

The survivor was gang raped by five men at a restaurant in the most inhumane manner, reports said. The matter came to the fore after the survivor narrated her ordeal and lodged a written complaint with Raghunathpali police. 

The shocking news comes a day after a teacher allegedly misbehaved with a Class 9 girl at a private school in the town.

The rising cases of rapes in the Steel City have raised serious concerns among the residents here. The ‘rapists’ are throwing an open challenge to the Rourkela Police. The series of rapes in the city has raised serious questions about police patrolling in the area.

No comments could be obtained from the Rourkela police in this connection.
