Bodies of two youths were recovered from a closed portion along NH-16 under Panikoili police limits in Jajpur district on Friday morning.

The deceased youths have been identified as Bijay Sahoo and Manas Ranjan Das- residents of nearby Janha village in the district.

Sahoo was an auto-driver while Das was working in a private company that deals in cosmetics.

Some locals spotted the dead bodies lying on the road along the NH, which was closed due to some ongoing construction work, in the morning and immediately informed the police.

Meanwhile, deceased Sahoo’s family members have alleged murder.

Some villagers alleged that both Sahoo and Das had come to meet a girl of nearby village last night. The villagers further suspected the involvement of the family members of the girl behind the death of the duo.

“It seems like a planned murder,” alleged a resident of Janha village, Ashok Kumar Sahoo.

Panikoili Police have reportedly started an investigation and questioning the family members of the two youths and villagers. Police have also seized a tiffin box containing make-up items and a motorcycle from the spot.

“We have recovered two bodies from the spot and they will be sent for post-mortem. An investigation into the deaths has already begun,” said a Sub-Inspector of the patrolling team which recovered the bodies.
