Two murders in two days: Grocery shop owner axed to death in Bolangir
Bolangir remains on edge as another brutal murder rocked the region on Sunday. The victim, Manoj Nayak, a grocery shop owner from Bishnumunda village under Town
Police Station limits in the district, was allegedly attacked with a sharp weapon while sitting in front of his shop.
Eyewitnesses say the assailant struck Nayak with an axe and fled the scene immediately. He was immediately rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival by doctors.
This is the second murder in Balangir within 48 hours, raising serious concerns about the deteriorating law and order situation.
Earlier on Saturday, a man was hacked to death in broad daylight in the Chimney Bhati school area of Bolangir on Saturday morning.
Sources reported that the dead body of a man was found lying in the middle of the road alongside a parked bike at around 11 am to 12 pm. Reports also added that a sharp stick was also found lying next to the deceased, hinting that he was stabbed to death.
Police reaction
“A crowd has gathered here, and different people have different details of the nature of the attack. We will follow a course of action after a scientific team arrives at the spot,” said Bolangir SDPO.
