Bolangir Sadar Police claimed to have busted a group involved in cheating people by pledging fake or duplicate gold ornaments. Two persons have been arrested in connection with the fraud.

As per reports, the duo had recently duped one Kishore Meher of Chandanbhati village on December 4. Sources said that the two had reached the house of Meher and asked him to give some money against some gold ornaments.

After verification of the gold ornaments, Meher went inside the room to get cash. However, the duo allegedly replaced the original gold ornaments with fake ones. Later, they left after taking the cash by handing over fake gold ornaments.

When Meher learnt that he had been duped, he approached the local police station in connection with the fraud. Later carrying out an investigation, police managed to nab both the accused involved in the cheating.

"Based on CCTV and human intelligence, we have arrested both the accused. One of the accused Kartik Meher was earlier arrested by Patnagarh police for cheating people with fake gold ornaments," said Bolangir SDPO, Tofan Bag.
