Brothers duo picked up by Karnataka police
The alleged kidnapping of two brothers from Puintala Square near Ganjam police station took a twist on Saturday after police informed that they were picked up by Karnataka Police for their alleged involvement in a case.
According to sources, the two brothers, who have been identified as Panchu Sahu and Krushna Sahu, were at a shop near Puintala Square, located 100 meters away from Ganjam police station on Friday night, when they were allegedly kidnapped at gunpoint in two cars.
As the news spread, businessmen and local residents took to the street and staged a road block demanding immediate release of the siblings.
Taking the incident seriously, Ganjam police launched a probe. A team comprising three IICs and Chhatrapur SDPO was formed. Ganjam’s additional SP Ajay Mishra was monitoring the team.
However, Ganjam SP on Saturday lifted the veil over the mystery and informed that the brothers were picked up by Karnataka police for their alleged involvement in a case. Later, they were kept at a hotel in Vishakhapatnam.
The district’s top cop also clarified that they are under the custody of Karnataka police and are safe.
Amidst the confusion, questions are being raised about why the Karnataka police didn’t inform their counterpart in Ganjam regarding their operation and similarly how the Ganjam police couldn’t get an inkling of the Karnataka police’s movement in their jurisdiction.
