Perturbed by rising missing and kidnapping cases of minor boys and girls in the State, the Commissionerate Police on Saturday launched an initiative named ‘Prarambh’ at Bhubaneswar DCP office to render necessary assistance to rescue minors and prevent their elopement.

Odisha Police DG Sunil Bansal inaugurated the new scheme in presence of other top police officials.

The police have also joined hands with some Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) for smooth implementation of the scheme.

As per police sources, Prarambh will focus on rescuing missing minor girls and boys as well as prevention and restoration of the victims and their families.

“We have inaugurated a renovated campus and counselling center where people can avail better service. The problem has a human angle and it can be solved by an integrated approach,” said Bansal.

“Most of the missing and kidnapping cases are linked to elopement of minor girls which has major social consequences. Minor girls often land in exploitative places in most of the cases which severely affects their career and family life. To prevent such cases, Prarambh has been launched,” said another police official.
