A youth has been booked for allegedly betraying a transgender after maintaining a physical relationship on the pretext of marriage in Kamakhyanagar of Dhenkanal district.

As per allegations, the accused youth, identified as Diptimaya Maharana, a resident of Rajakulakateni village under Kamakhyanagar Police limits, works as a delivery boy for an app-based food aggregator. A year ago, he met transgender Sanjana Behera when he went to deliver food. Both fell in love and were subsequently staying together in a live-in relationship in Bhubaneswar. They exchanged garlands in a temple too. The complainant alleged that on the false promise of court marriage, Diptimaya maintained a physical relationship and tricked the victim into giving away money and ornaments to him.

When asked, Diptimaya’s father Naresh Chandra Maharana said he is not aware of his son’s relationship with the complainant.
