In a major crackdown, Lahunipara police has successfully busted a tripper truck loot gang from Sundergarh district on Thursday. 

Reportedly, members of the gang used to steal tripper trucks, cut them into small pieces and dismantle the parts of the engines before selling them outside Odisha. 

As per reports, more than six tripper trucks were stolen in Lahunipara and Barsuan area under Bonai sub-divison in the past few days spurring the local police to launch an investigation in the matter.

As part of the investigation, police were checking the CCTV footages of petrol pumps and dhabas along the highway in the area when cops spotted two accused in one of the clip.  Later after taking into custody, police interrogated both of them and discovered all the details.

The duo confessed that due to Covid lockdown they were out of work and so they stole stolen six trippers from the region with the help of another person. 

One Rajen Sanyashi, a crusher owner was reportedly selling the parts of the vehicles as scarp by cutting them into small pieces in the backyard of the crusher.

The police have arrested seven persons who were part of the loot gang and court forwarded them. Cops have also seized parts of tippers and mobile phones from their possession.
