Temple priest's semi-nude body with limbs tied found in Odisha’s Koraput; probe launched

The priest of Budhi Thakurani temple under Town Police station in Koraput district was found dead under mysterious circumstances on Wednesday. The priest’s body in semi-naked condition, with his hands and legs tied was recovered from his house in the wee hours.

The deceased has been identified as Ramesh Chandra Tripathy. It is suspected that the priest has been murdered. The exact reason behind the killing of the priest is not clear. Police and forensic team have reached the spot and started an investigation.

The police suspect it to be a murder case as most of the belongings inside the house have been thrown here and there.

Additional SP, B. Deep said, “Prima facie it appears to be a murder case from the condition and position of the body. Already an investigation by the forensic team has started into the case. A detailed investigation will be conducted to nab the culprit at the earliest.”

As no relative of the deceased stays nearby, police officials are finding it hard to gather information about him.
