The Odisha Police on Wednesday arrested a teacher at a private school in Sundargarh from Siwan in Bihar for allegedly eloping with his minor student.

Police also rescued the minor girl who is a class 8 student in the private English Medium school at Kutra area of the district. A printing machine, bike, vermillion and bangles were also seized from the accused.

As per reports, the accused, who teaches Mathematics at the school, had entrapped the minor girl in a love relationship. Subsequently, the accused eloped with the student to Bihar with a plan to marry her secretly.

Following the disappearance of the girl, her family members filed a complaint with the police which swung into action to trace her. Subsequently the accused Mathematics teacher was arrested from Siwan in Bihar.

“The girl went missing from her home in the evening hours of March 5. On the basis of her father’s complaint, a kidnapping case was registered at Kutra police station. Following a thorough investigation we were able to trace the missing girl and rescue her from Bihar. We were also successful in arresting the accused,” said Rajgangpur SDPO Sashank Sekhar Beura.
