In a shocking incident one student of Rajendra University in Bolangir was grievously injured and another sustained injuries after allegedly being attacked with a razor blade by a non-student inside the campus.

As per reports, the miscreant came with a blade and threatened to kill a student, Rituraj Singh while asking for money. The miscreant reportedly slit the throat of Singh.

Another student, Lalit Meher, who came to the rescue of Singh, was also attacked by the miscreants.

Both Singh and Meher were rushed to the Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital in Bolangir for treatment where Singh’s condition is said to be critical.

“We were playing in the stadium when that man came and asked our home address. When Singh replied to his question, he grabbed his throat and slashed it with a blade making him bleed profusely,” said Manoj Pradhan an eye witness.

“He asked us for money too. Even the security guard did not do anything to help us. When we called up other hostel mates, the miscreant fled the spot,” Pradhan added.

The attacker, identified as Simran, has been detained by the police.

As per reports, the accused is a drug addict and has multiple criminal cases against his name.

While the police have launched a probe into the case, palpable tension prevailed inside the university campus.
