The residents of Vijay Vihar under Dhauli Police Station on the suburbs of Bhubaneswar have been spending sleepless nights after robbers looted seven houses in their area in a span of a week.

The latest victim of the loot was a contractor residing in the area. The entire episode of the loot was captured on the CCTV camera installed by him at his home.

The camera footage revealed that the robbers broke into the house through the window and stole cash of Rs 1 lakh and gold jewellery worth Rs 5 lakh.

The residents have alleged police inaction behind the frequent loot incidents in the area.

“The miscreants broke our window and entered the house. They looted two idols of Lord Ganesha and Goddess Laxmi, gold jewellery and cash worth Rs 1 lakh from the house,” said Arati Dash, a Vijay Vihar resident.

Another resident, Ajeet Ray said, “Despite providing the police with all the CCTV footage, they are empty handed. The robbers have managed to loot seven homes in seven days, but the police have no idea about them.”

No comments have been received from police officials.
