Serial bombings rock Bhubaneswar slums over ‘past rivalry’ ahead of Durga Puja; police launch probe
Panic gripped Bhubaneswar late on Tuesday night after a series of bombs were hurled between Gautam Nagar Basti and Ashok Nagar Falikia Basti, causing damage to homes and property.
According to residents, the explosions appear to be linked to longstanding rivalries, targeting specific individuals or groups. The blasts damaged doors and household structures, leaving residents terrified.
We heard loud explosions and saw the doors of houses shattered. Families were running for safety, said a local resident.
Authorities have confirmed that no casualties have been reported so far, though minor injuries were sustained by a few people.
Meanwhile, the Commissionerate Police has launched an investigation into the incident. This is not the first time such blasts have occurred in the city.
In the past two months, similar explosions were reported in Bharatpur Panda Kudia Basti and Pulishwari Basti, indicating a disturbing pattern of targeted attacks in the capital city.
