Self-styled godman detained for killing another baba in Puri

Puri Police on Saturday detained a self-styled godman on the charges of attacking another baba with a wooden plank which led to his death at Gurukrupa Ashram at Lokanath road in the pilgrim town. The deceased has been identified as Arjun Das from neighbouring West Bengal.

As per initial reports, Das was attacked by the self-styled godman, identified as Bishnu Das. Another baba has also been injured in the attack by Bishnu inside the Ashram. The injured, Dayanidhi is now undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Puri SP Kanwar Vishal Singh is himself monitoring the investigation of the brutal murder at the Ashram.

"I hit him with a wooden plank on his head. He was spreading rumours that I was into tantra sadhana. I do only sadhana, while my father practices tantra sadhana regularly," said the accused godman, Bishnu Das.

Puri Additional SP, Sushil Mishra said, "Preliminary investigation shows that there was some dispute between the accused and the deceased. We are investigating the matter. Only after the probe, the exact motive can be ascertained."
