The Vigilance department officials on Saturday apprehended the headmaster of Kendrapara Government High School while allegedly accepting a bribe from a school staffer. The accused headmaster has been identified as Niranjan Ati.

As per Vigilance officials, the Headmaster had demanded a bribe of Rs 5000 from a staffer of the school for facilitating release of his second phase House building loan. Today, he was caught while accepting the bribe.

A case under section 7 of PC Amendment Act, 2018 has been registered against the accused and further investigation in connection with the incident is underway.

The Vigilance has recovered the cash from the drawer of the Headmaster soon after the school prayer. The Headmaster had allegedly demanded Rs 10,000 from the school staffer who had initially agreed to pay Rs 5000.
