The officials of Odisha Vigilance on Saturday conducted raids at different places linked to Bijayananda Sahu, Superintendent Engineer of Rural Water Supply & Sanitation Division (RWSS), Bhubaneswar.

The simultaneous searches were carried out over allegations of amassing property disproportionate to his known sources of income.

Bijayananda Sahu also happens to be the nephew of BJD MLA from Parjang, Nrusingha Charan Sahu. The raids were carried out at eight places including in Bhubaneswar, Dhenkanal and Angul.

During the raids, Vigilance has found 11 plots in the name of Sahu’s brother-in-law and sister-in-law. It is believed that, Sahu might have purchased the plots in their name to avoid detection of Vigilance.

Property traced so far:

One triple storey building of area about 3230 Sqft., over plot No.ME-19, Mohan Das Enclave, Aiginia, Bhubaneswar. 

Another triple storey building at Susuda, PS-Town Dist-Angul (shown sale to sister-in-law of Sri Sahoo, though the electric connection is still in the name of the wife of Sri Sahoo. Details are under verification)

Double storey building at Dihadol, PS-Parjanga, Dist-Dhenkanal.

14 plots in prime locations of Bhubaneswar, Angul and Dhenkanal (including 6 in the name of his sister-in-law and 5 in the name of his brother-in-law, suspected to have been acquired by Sahoo as benami properties. Details are under verification).

The measurement and valuation/assessment of the above buildings/plots are being carried out by Vigilance Technical Wing.
