A youth, Sudhanshu Jena, was critically injured after being shot over a road dispute near Chakuri under Basta police limits, Balasore. Police are investigating the accused who fled the scene.

Injured Youth In Balasore Firing

A youth has sustained critical injuries after two miscreants allegedly opened fire at him near Chakuri under Basta police limits in Balasore on Monday night. It is alleged that the incident occurred due to dispute over not giving passage to vehicle.

“We only asked the two youths why they were driving at high speed. One of them took out a country-made pistol and opened fire,” alleged the brother of the injured youth.

According to sources, the argument started among a group of individuals and quickly intensified, leading to one of them opening fire. Sudhanshu Jena, a resident of Nima village, sustained a bullet injury in his leg. He was immediately rushed to Balasore Medical College.

Till the last report came in, doctors had confirmed that Jena’s condition was stable, but he was being closely monitored.

What Eyewitnesses Say

Eyewitnesses reported that two youths were involved in the firing, and they fled the scene immediately after the incident.

Local police arrived at the spot soon after and launched an investigation. Efforts are being made to identify and apprehend the accused individuals. Authorities are also reviewing CCTV footage from the nearby areas to gather further evidence, said sources.

The incident has raised concerns among the local community regarding rising instances of violence over trivial issues. Residents have urged the authorities to ensure strict action against those responsible and to take necessary measures to prevent such incidents in the future.

Police have assured that the culprits will be nabbed soon and stringent action will be taken against them. Meanwhile, additional patrolling has been deployed in the area to maintain law and order.
