Refused Money For Bike, Youth Slits Father’s Throat In Odisha’s Dhenkanal; Held

In a shocking incident, a youth in Korian under Dhenkanal Town Police Station killed his father on Tuesday by slitting his throat with a blade and later bludgeoning his head by a stone after the latter allegedly refused to give him money to buy a bike.

The accused, identified as Prakash Pradhan, is the elder son of the deceased, Trilochan Pradhan.

As per reports, recently Trilochan bought a bike for his younger son, Deepak from the money he earned from selling a portion of his land. This made Prakash demanded a bike for him too. However, Trilochan refused to give him money.

Enraged at the denial, Prakash reportedly went into a scuffle with his father in an inebriated condition few days back.

However, this only aggravated the situation and Trilochan refused to give in to Prakash’s repeated demands over the same. Finally, in a fit of rage, Prakash launched a fatal attack on his father. He initially slit Trilochan’s throat with a shaving blade and thereafter bludgeoned his head with a stone killing him on the spot.

The police latter nabbed Prakash at the ground where he took his father’s body for cremation.

“My brother took a blade and severed my father’s throat following a dispute,” said Deepak.

Sources said, the police have arrested another man along with Prakash for the murder. However, the unidentified man’s role in the crime is still to be disclosed by the police.
