Hansita Abhilipsa and Anil Mohanty
Police on Thursday reached the office of Hansita Abhilipsa and Anil Mohanty, who were on Monday arrested on charges of cheating people by introducing them as the daughter and son-in-law of the Prime Minister’s Principal Secretary PK Mishra, to conduct a raid on the premises in Bhubaneswar.
As per reports, a team from the Infocity police station arrived only to find the premises to have been locked. Before their arrival, the employees had fled the location.
As per reports, while patrolling vans are moving around the area, police forces are deployed at the office.
While police officers are waiting for voluntary compliance to open the office, the cops have given an ultimatum. Should the premises not be opened willingly, the police would enter forcibly.
Notably, based on a complaint by a mine owner, the Commissionerate Police arrested the duo. Subsequently, they were produced in a court, sources added.
The modus operandi of Hansita and Anil was to digitally manipulate photographs with high-ranking officials and approach their victims with false promises of getting their tender passed. They used to introduce them to their targets as the daughter and son-in-law of the Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister.
By portraying false associations with influential figures, Hansita purportedly convinced victims, primarily targeting rich businessmen, those in the mining and construction sectors. She also posed as the wife of several high-profile businessmen, bureaucrats, and politicians as per the need of her plan to defraud her victim.
As per allegations, they have cheated several builders, mine owners, MNC owners, and businessmen.
