It is alleged that a contractual railway employee has been killed for failing to return the borrowed money in Odisha’s Gunupur of Rayagada district. The deceased has been identified as Ashok Barad.

According to sources, Ashok supplied water at Gunupur railway station. On Saturday evening, he called his son and revealed to had borrowed Rs 35,000 from a person. He asked his son to bring the money to Kashinagar and later to Gunupur.

However, Ashok’s son reached Kashinagar only to know that his father was killed and his body was in Gunupur Hospital.

“I received a call from my father who asked me to bring the money and come to Kashipur. But, I could hear in the background someone threatening my father about the borrowed money. But, he had never told us anything about the borrowed money,” informed Ashok’s son.

“As per his direction, I went to Kashipur with the money. Later, they again called me and asked me to come to Gunupur. By the time I reached Gunupur, they had killed my father. I suspect they have killed my father for the money,” he added.
