The Puri Police on Thursday seized property worth Rs 1 Cr belonging to incarcerated drug mafia Anirudh Jaisingh under the NDPS Act.

As per reports, the seizure includes a godown, two JCBs, a car, a tractor and some jewellery, belonging to the mafia.

The list and details of the seized property will be sent to the Competent Authority in Kolkata for evaluation. The properties will be auctioned off after getting an approval from the same.

Jaisingh was arrested from Puri in January this year for possessing brown sugar worth Rs 14 Lakh. He has four cases pending in different police stations.

Addressing a presser, Puri SP, Kanwar Vishal Singh said, “The Puri police has seized brown sugar weighing 1.392Kg so far this year. A total of 21 accused have also been arrested this year which include drug peddlers and inter-district drug mafias. We took a step further in curbing drug trafficking in the district by attaching properties of Jaisingh. I appeal the public to support this drive by the police to wipe out drug menace from the district,” Jaisingh said.

Earlier in January 22, the Special Task Force (STF) of the State Crime Branch had seized more than three kg of brown sugar worth over Rs 4 crore and Rs 60 lakh cash from a rented house at PWD Lane in Nayagarh district.

Along with the drugs and cash, as many as three pistols and some live bullets were also seized from the house. One accused was nabbed in this connection.
