A police constable sustained multiple injuries after he was allegedly attacked by two persons with wooden planks in Balasore district. The incident occurred when the constable, identified as Ajay Singh, reportedly had gone to resolve a dispute between a man and his wife.
As per initial reports, Singh visited the house of the man after his wife and son lodged a written complaint alleging that they were being subjected to torture.
On getting the report, Singh soon rushed to the house of the accused husband to investigate the matter. Irate over the presence of police, the accused man along with his brother allegedly attacked Singh with wooden planks. Singh has sustained injuries on his face and head.
The injured constable is now undergoing treatment at a hospital and his condition is stated to be stable.
“After the woman submitted a written complaint, I went to the spot to call her husband. Later, the complainant’s husband and his brother attacked me,” alleged Singh.
Meanwhile, senior officials could not be contacted over the attack on the constable.
