Police ASI in Vigilance net for accepting bribe of Rs 15k
The officials of Odisha Vigilance have apprehended Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Rajanikanta Das while accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000 from a person on Tuesday. The concerned ASI is posted at Kotagarh police station in Kandhamal district.
As per the allegations, the ASI was nabbed by the sleuths of Vigilance Department when the former was accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000 from a person to help him and his friends in a case. It is alleged that ASI Das had demanded the money to dispose of the case registered against the complainant.
The Vigilance team apprehended the ASI while accepting the money in Kali Temple in Kotagarh. Following the incident, the Berhampur Vigilance has registered a case against the concerned ASI under section 7 of Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018.
Later, raids were also carried out at two different places linked to the ASI. Meanwhile, further investigation in connection with the case is underway, said senior Vigilance officials.
