Six persons including two minor boys were arrested on Wednesday for their alleged involvement in the murder of a Plus 2 student in Nuapada district.

As per police sources, the girl went missing in January this year. However, an anonymous letter mailed to the family tipped off her murder.

The girl’s body was then exhumed from a paddy field after the prime accused Paramananda Sahu confessed to the murder and led the police to the spot where Sahu and his five associates had buried the teenager.

As per reports, Sahu had an alleged relationship with the girl and she was four months pregnant.

The girl had gone missing for the last 10 months. However, her family received an anonymous letter recently and the girl’s father approached police with the letter.

“Based on the anonymous letter, we started an investigation and the accused were arrested. During interrogation, the main accused admitted to have killed her.

The accused was scared as the girl was pregnant. He wanted to eliminate her. As per the plan the main accused along with his associates called the girl over telephone to a lonely place and strangulated her to death. Subsequently, they buried the body in a paddy field situated two kilometers away from the girl’s village,” said Indramani Behera, Additional SP of Nuapada.

Police created the crime scene and exhumed the body from the paddy field.

The four accused along with the two minor boys have been forwarded to court and further investigation is underway, added Behera.
