Even as a week has passed since a B.Sc nursing student was found hanging in Paralakhemundi of Gajapati district, her death continues to shroud in mystery.

While the police are yet to make any headway into the case, her parents on Thursday alleged that she was murdered.

The student who hailed from Gopalpur of Ganjam district was found hanging in her classroom on July 28. However, the exact reason behind the girl taking the extreme step is yet to be ascertained.

As per the allegation of the parents, their daughter has not committed suicide; rather she has been murdered and later hanged to hide the plot. It was evident from the prevailing situation that she has been murdered.

The parents have also raised the question mark on why the CCTV cameras installed near the area were not functioning. They have also stated that the saree which the girl had used at the time of death is not of her.

“The hook in which the body was hanging was too high. There was even no table and chair near her body. The saree which she had used had more than 10 knots and that doesn’t belong to her. Under the prevailing situation, it is pretty clear that she has not committed suicide, rather she has been murdered,” said the deceased’s mother.

“The girl was the monitor and she was conveying the problems of the students to higher authorities,” said the deceased’s father.

The parents and relatives of the deceased have also expressed their dissatisfaction with the police investigation. However, as per police officials, the investigation is going on smoothly.

“The questioning of the deceased’s friends and college employees is currently underway.  The available CCTV footage will be sent to the laboratory soon. The deceased’s body has also been sent for post-mortem. We are waiting for the reports. After receiving the reports it will be clear whether the girl has been murdered or she has committed suicide,” said Paralakhemundi SDPO Ramakrushna Pati.
