In a major development in the death case of Paralakhemundi Assistant Conservator of Forest (ACF) Soumya Ranjan Mohapatra, the Crime Branch will quiz the wife of the deceased Bidyabharati Panda.

Not only Bidyabharati, as per the police sources, the family members of Mohapatra will also be questioned by the cops on Wednesday.

Speaking to the media, Crime Branch ADG Sanjeev Panda said, “The investigating team of the Crime Branch has already questioned a total of 14 persons at the crime scene in Paralakhemundi. The team will record statements of the complainant and the family members of Mohapatra tomorrow.”

“Afterwards, the CB will quiz the wife of the deceased Bidyabharati in connection with the case,” informed Panda.

As per sources, the CB team has already grilled DFO Sangram Keshari Mohanty, who has been accused by the family of the deceased of being involved in the death of Soumya Ranjan Mohapatra.

The DFO had already denied charges of having a relationship with Bidyabharati or harassing the deceased ACF by giving him extra work, as alleged by the family members of the deceased officer.

Now, speculations are rife over the scheduled questioning of Bidyabharati and its outcome.

Earlier, the Crime Branch had said that the Gajapati DFO Sangram Keshari Behera and the deceased officer’s wife Bidyabharati Panda will be subjected to a lie detection test if required.

The Director-General (DG) of Police, Abhay had ordered a Crime Branch probe into the ACF death case following demands for a CBI probe made by different quarters.
