Gobinda Sahu, the prime accused in lady teacher Mamita Meher’s murder case has been wandering around carefree after he was granted conditional interim bail on Wednesday.

This has not gone well with the victim’s family who demanded his immediate arrest. Recently, Sahu, the main accused in the sensational Bolangir lady teacher murder case was spotted wandering around during ‘Bahudra Yatra’ at Mahaling village in Kalahandi district.

“This is worrisome. The accused might influence the witnesses if he is allowed to go carefree. This will terrorise the victim’s family members and witnesses in the case. He is wandering around without any guilt. The prosecution and police should taken immediate step in this regard,” said a senior lawyer Pramod Kumar Mishra.

On the other hand, government lawyer Pramod Panigrahy said that he had not received any information regarding Sahu breaking the court orders.

Notably, the Orissa High Court on Wednesday granted conditional interim bail to Gobinda Sahu for a period of two weeks. Earlier, Sahu had requested the court for bail citing the treatment of his wife and daughter.

Worth mentioning, Mamita Meher, a 26-year-old teacher of Sunshine English Medium School at Mahaling in Kalahandi was killed on October 8. Subsequently, her charred body was found buried in an under-construction stadium near the school on October 19.

Later on the day, Sahu was arrested from a sugarcane field at Budhipadar village under Bangomunda block in Bolangir district.

Odisha had then witnessed massive protests across the State as almost all the opposition parties demanded resignation of MoS (Home) Dibya Shankar Mishra alleging the Minister's complicity in the sensational murder case.
