OTV Impact: Patnagarh SDMO Transferred, Attendant Suspended Over Bribery Inside Bolangir MCH

Bolangir: Even as the pandemic continues to ravage, a bribery act caught on camera inside Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital has spurred the district health authorities to initiate a crackdown against two erring officials following an OTV report.

Bolangir CDMO on Monday informed that he has transferred Patnagarh SDMO Bachaspati Das to district headquarters and also initiated departmental inquiry against him.

This apart, OPD attendant of the Orthopaedics department at the medical college, Sashikant Mishra has also been suspended from service over the incident. 

The action comes in the wake of a video that went viral on social media showing Patnagarh SDMO Bachaspati seeking Rs 20000 as bribe to carry out an operation on a patient. In the video, the doctor could be seen cunningly concealing the bribe amount inside his pocket. 

Similarly, OPD attendant of the Bhima Bhoi MCH, Sashikant was also caught in a camera while asking money to remove dressing from the wound of a patient. Both the visuals were shown in an OTV report on May 7 which is said to have put the medical authorities on toes.
