OTET Paper Leak: Odisha Crime Branch arrests 7th accused, another teacher held
In a fresh development in the ongoing Odisha Teacher Eligibility Test (Special OTET) question paper leak case, the Odisha Crime Branch has arrested another individual. The accused, a teacher from Kalahandi district, was taken into custody on Friday.With this, the total number of arrests in the case has risen to seven.
Earlier, the Crime Branch had arrested six individuals, including four teachers, in connection with the scandal.
The Crime Branch has detained two teachers from Kalahandi and Koraput for interrogation, and the former has been arrested.
The investigation, which was launched following the alleged leak of the question paper, has revealed a wider network of individuals involved in the malpractice.
It is believed that the number of arrests may increase further. Of the seven arrested, one accused has a similar crime record.
Notably, one Jitan Moharana had transferred the question to a pen drive from the Board of Secondary Education’s vice president and later made it viral.
Crime Branch sources have confirmed that Rs 2.4 lakh was transferred into Maharana’s account, establishing a clear financial link to the illegal activity.
Officials said further inquiries are underway with the Crime Branch continuing to interrogate the arrested persons to uncover the full extent of the leak and any possible masterminds behind the operation.
