Balasore Police has arrested two more persons for their alleged involvement in the paper leak of the Odisha Staff Selection Commission’s junior engineer recruitment exam.

Informing about the latest development, the Balasore Police on Monday issued a press note. With the fresh arrests, the total number of arrested persons has gone up to 27.

The two accused persons have been identified as Sadashiv Pradhan, a resident of Puri and Partha Sengupta, an outsourcing contractor from West Bengal. Sengupta used to supply labourers to the printing press. During investigation, the police came to know that he had supplied one set of question paper to Birendra Kumar, after the final sets of the question papers were printed and bound. Birendra then had sent it to Vishal Kumar.

Notably, the OSSC on July 23 cancelled the Main Written Examination for JE (Civil) conducted on July 16, 2023, after the Balasore SP had confirmed the question paper leak.

The commission has also rescheduled the examination to September 3.

Soon after the cancellation of the examination, scores of aspirants staged a demonstration in front of the office of the commission. They demanded stern action against the staff and officials allegedly involved in the scam.

It is alleged that the accused leaked the question paper to 88 aspirants in exchange for huge sums of money.
