Odisha youth dupes girl after meeting her on matrimony website

These days a lot of youngsters depend on several websites to find their soul mate. But a girl lost her gold ornaments after coming in contact with a youth who identified himself to be working in the Income Tax department.

The youth decamped with gold ornaments of the victim on the pretext of providing her cash. Such an incident has now become the talk of the town in Cuttack.

Meanwhile, the Commissionerate Police has arrested the accused youth, identified as Sudhanshu Behera in connection with the incident.

“I came across the youth on a matrimony site. The youth informed me that he was working in the Income Tax department. During the conversation, the youth learned that I was planning to take a loan by mortgaging gold. He then assured me to give cash in lieu of gold ornaments. I came to Cuttack and he took away the ornaments on the pretext of weighing it. Later, he absconded after saying that he was going to withdraw cash,” said the victim.

ACP Anil Mishra said, “The accused hails from Kalyaninagar under Madhupatna police limits. We have recovered 30 grams of gold ornaments which he had taken from the victim on the pretext of giving her cash.”
