Vigilance Traps JE In Kandhamal
Odisha Vigilance officials on Monday caught a Junior Engineer (JE) of Phiringia block in Kandhamal district while accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000. The JE, identified as Ashok Padhy was caught red-handed while taking the bribe from a contractor for clearing his final bill.
Sources said a trap was laid by the Vigilance and the JE was apprehended while he was accepting the bribe in his government quarters. The senior officials said that the entire bribe money has been recovered from the JE’s possession.
Following this, simultaneous searches are being carried out at two locations linked to the JE in connection with the disproportionate assets (DA) angle.
A case under section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2028 has been registered against the JE and further investigation is underway, the Vigilance officials said in a statement.
