Vigilance raid on chief construction engineer Pravas Pradhan
At a time when a common man’s golden years are spent buying a plot and constructing a dream house, several government babus in Odisha are owners of multiple plots. Such lavish lifestyle of government servants is now being exposed following raids on corrupt officials by the Vigilance Department.
The latest officer under the Vigilance scanner is Pravas Kumar Pradhan, the Chief Construction Engineer, Anandpur Barrage Project (Salapada) in Keonjhar.
Suspecting possession of disproportionate assets, a team of Vigilance sleuths are carrying out simultaneous searches on the properties linked to Pradhan. The raids are currently underway at seven places in Balasore district.
As per reports, the Vigilance sleuths have so far traced 85 plots in the name of Pradhan and his family members in Odisha and West Bengal. Apart from plots, the Vigilance officials have found Rs 11 lakh cash during the raid.
Senior Vigilance officials informed that so far 85 plots, of which 80 plots in Jaleswar, 4 plots in Delanga Puri, and 1 plot in Sunakania, West Bengal have been traced. The total registered sale deed value comes to over Rs 2 crores. However, the actual value is likely to be higher, which is being verified.
