The Assistant Engineer of Sunabeda NAC, Manoj Kumar Patra was arrested on Sunday by Odisha Vigilance on charges of piling up ill-gotten wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income.

Acting on allegations against the accused officer, six teams of the anti-corruption wing led by five DSPs with support of eight inspectors and other staff carried out simultaneous raids at the properties of Patra in Khordha, Gajapati, Ganjam and Koraput districts. 

During the searches, the sleuths claimed to have unearthed disproportionate assets worth crores belonging to the officer.

Patra couldn’t account for his possession of uneven property satisfactorily during the raids and was subsequently arrested by the Vigilance along with his wife. 

A case under section 13(2), 13(1)(b)/12 Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 as amended by P.C (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered against both of them. As per police sources, Patra has been forwarded to the court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Jeypore.

Cash total of Rs 28.61 Lakh.

Gold jewellery of 369.10 gms and silver jewellery of 288.51 gms worth over Rs 11.44 lakh.

One 3 BHK flat at Pokhariput, Bhubaneswar worth about Rs 80 lakh.

Double storeyed building at Berhampur worth about Rs.50.57 lakh as per preliminary estimate.

Seven numbers of plots including one plot at Bhubaneswar and three plots each in Berhampur and Koraput.

Fixed deposits, bank, insurance and postal deposits over Rs 40 lakh.

Household articles worth over Rs 16.59 lakh.

One Hyundai Venue car worth Rs 12.88 lakh.

Two two-wheelers (Honda Unicorn worth Rs 1,10,000 and TVS Jupiter worth Rs 59,500.
