Assistant Civil Supplies Officer (ACSO) of Nuapada district, Ratnakar Sethy was arrested on Thursday by the State Vigilance department for allegedly amassing property disproportionate to his known sources of income.
Both Ratnakar and his wife, Bhagyalata Sethy have been booked by the vigilance sleuths under the PC act.
As per reports, the Vigilance team had unearthed unaccounted property worth Rs 6.71 Crore on Wednesday following a raid at several places, which is 570 percent more than Ratnakar's known sources of income.
Simultaneous searches were carried out on Wednesday by six Vigilance teams comprising six DSPs, 12 inspectors and other officers in as many places associated with Ratnakar following allegation pertaining to accumulation of disproportionate assets.
Vigilance sources said the government servant owns Nataraj Palace Kalyan Mandap at Balisahi under Madhupatna police limits in Cuttack, a G+3 building at Chauliaganj in Cuttack, three acre land covered by boundary wall with house at Oranda, Choudwar.
During searches, it was found that the ACSO has paid insurance premium worth over Rs 1.13 crore. Apart from the immovable property, 498 gm gold jewellery and 2.5 kg silver jewellery were also detected during the search.
Vigilance SP, Akshay Mishra said, “Ratnakar has been forwarded to the court. His too will also be forwarded to the court after collecting all the evidences against her.”
