The Special Task Force (STF) of Odisha Police has arrested an inter-state drug peddler from Guwahati in Assam and brought him to the State on transit remand. 

The accused has been identified as Salim Ahmmed, a resident of Manipur in Guwahati.

According to source, a team of Odisha STF and Assam police arrested the drug peddler. Earlier in December, 1.335 kg of brown sugar, a car and other incriminating materials were seized from his possession.

The STF had seized brown sugar worth over Rs 1 crore following a raid near Anuspa lake under Banki police limits in Cuttack district on December 4.

Ahmmed was wanted in STF PS case No. 29/2022 U/s. 21(c)/29 NDPS Act, 1985 and was absconding and concealing his presence at Guwahati.

Earlier, two accused-  Jumesh Kumar Sahoo and Hemant Kumar Pradhan were arrested in connection with the case and forwarded to the court. 

The accused was brought on transit remand after being produced in the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Guwahati.  He will be produced in the court of District and Sessions Judge-cum-Special Judge, Cuttack

Further investigation into the matter is on. the STF said.
