Odisha Vigilance arrested Pradeep Mohanty, STA Joint Commissioner, for possessing disproportionate assets worth crores. Raids across four districts uncovered cash, gold, properties, and vehicles.

Odisha STA joint commissioner Pradeep Mohanty arrested

The Odisha Vigilance on Friday arrested Pradeep Mohanty, Joint Commissioner at State Transport Authority (STA) after detecting huge assets worth crores. Pradeep Mohanty has been arrested in a disproportionate assets (DA) case.

Senior Vigilance officials informed that Pradeep Mohanty will be produced before the court today.

Earlier, the Vigilance officials on Thursday conducted simultaneous raids on the properties and office of the officer, Pradeep Kumar Mohanty, across nine locations in the districts of Khordha, Nayagarh, Puri, and Cuttack.

Mohanty started his government service in 1990 as a junior motor vehicle inspector (MVI).

Detections So Far

During searches, the Vigilance sleuths detected Rs 17.55 lakh cash and 2.1 kg gold. Besides, Pradeep Mohanty was found in possession of disproportionate assets including three multi-storeyed buildings, Rs.1 crore paid to purchase one 4-BHK flat at Bhubaneswar, 2 benami flats at Puri, 11 plots, one farm house spread over 14 acres, two 4-wheelers (benami) which he could not explain satisfactorily.
