An Odisha police service (OPS) officer was on Wednesday apprehended by the sleuths of Odisha Vigilance for accepting a bribe of Rs 30,0000 from a stone quarry owner in Dhenkanal district. 

Malaya Kishore Nayak, the sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) of Hindol, was caught red-handed near Karanda Chhak while receiving the bribe money from the stone quarry owner for facilitating the transportation of stone-laden vehicles.

Following the recovery of the bribe, simultaneous searches were conducted on the properties of Nayak at six places including Bhubaneswar, Puri, Angul, Dhenkanal and Sambalpur.

A case (34 /22) has been registered at Cuttack Vigilance police station in this connection under Section 7 PC Amendment Act,2018. Further investigation is underway, the Vigilance said in a statement.
