Odisha pharmacist with 2 nurse girlfriends 'kills wife with anaesthesia' in Bhubaneswar
In a ghastly act, a man with the help of his two girlfriends allegedly murdered his wife by administering excess anaesthesia. The incident was reported from Bharatpur area in Bhubaneswar.
According to sources, the accused, a pharmacist by profession and his two girlfriends, who work as nurses at a private hospital, administered anaesthesia to his wife on October 27 causing her death.
Following her death, the accused rushed her wife to the Capital Hospital and tried to give it a suicide angle. Acting on the medico-legal case received from Capital Hospital, the police had registered a case of unnatural death. However, the post-mortem report and subsequent investigation by the scientific team revealed that the death was caused due to administration of excessive anaesthesia, sources informed.
“Suspecting foul play, we contacted the medical officer who performed the post-mortem of the deceased. After getting sufficient evidence that it was not an unnatural death, we started interrogating the accused. During the questioning, he divulged the entire crime,” Bhubaneswar DCP Pinak Mishra said.
“He (accused) confessed that he forcibly administered anaesthesia. This is a preliminary investigation. A dedicated team is investing the case and if required the main accused will be taken on remand and a scene recreation will be carried out,” Mishra added.
Revealing more information about the brutal murder, the senior cop said, “The accused has an extramarital affair which led to a fissure in the relation between the couple. As I have already said the investigation is in the preliminary stage, and more details will emerge as the probe progresses.”
