Mystery shrouds the death of a girl student whose body was recovered from MLA colony in Bhubaneswar. The deceased is said to be niece of Rairangpur MLA Naba Charan Majhi. She was a Plus II Arts student of a private college in Bhubaneswar.

Initial reports say that the girl was staying at the MLA colony in Bhubaneswar along with her brother since the past several years.

On Saturday, the girl student went to sleep after completing her studies. Suspicion grew after she did not open the door of her room the next day. Later, she was found hanging in the room.

On getting information, Police reached the spot and sent the body for post-mortem. However, the exact cause behind the girl student’s death has not been ascertained.

Sources said police have started investigation by recording the statements of the family members. The mobile phone of the deceased has also been seized, sources said.

“On August 5, Union Home Minister Amit Shah attended a programme in Bhubaneswar and I had also joined the event. After the event, I returned to the quarter. My niece along with her brother were staying here. We do not know the reason. Police have taken her mobile phone and things will get clear after the probe,” said Rairangpur MLA Naba Charan Majhi.
