Relatives of the deceased mourning after the news of his death reached village
In a shocking incident, a man from Odisha has been accused of killing his own brother-in-law over a petty trivial issue in Kerala’s Kollam district. Based on CCTV footage, Kerala police arrested the accused following a probe.
The deceased has been identified as Abhay Bira of Bijipur village under Mohana police limits in Gajapati district. The accused has been identified as Manoj Kumar Nayak, the brother-in-law of the deceased.
On the other hand, the deceased’s family has been pleading with the administration and state government to bring back the body to Odisha.
According to sources, Abhay had gone to work as a migrant worker in Kerala’s Kollam district where his sister and brother-in-law Manoj lived. He used to live with them and go to work.
On a fateful day, Abhay saw Manoj assaulting his sister over some family dispute. Though he intervened to stop their fight, it led to a verbal fight between the duo. Soon, the verbal fight escalated and he left the house for Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu in search of work.
In a fit of rage, Manoj followed Abhay and allegedly killed him. Swinging into action, Kerala police arrested Manoj after a probe.
However, the deceased’s family members are now a worried lot with no one to bring their son’s body back to the village. They have sought help of the administration and government to bring back the body for the conduct of final rites.
However, no comments could be obtained from any government official in this connection with the incident.
