Odisha IIC, police team attacked during theft investigation
A tense situation unfolded after an IIC and his team were attacked by villagers during a theft investigation in Telenga village under Kantara Panchayat in Jajpur, Odisha. The incident occurred during an operation to recover a stolen motorcycle, authorities confirmed. Inspector-in-Charge (IIC) Rakesh Tripathi of Korei Police Station and his team were assaulted while recovering a stolen bike.
According to statements, the police were acting on a tip-off regarding a motorcycle reported stolen from the jurisdiction of the Kuakhia police. The Korei police had located the stolen vehicle near the busy marketplace.
During the recovery operation, a group reportedly comprised of locals, including women from Telenga village, confronted the police. They allegedly attacked the officers and managed to allow the suspects to flee the scene with the motorcycle.
In response to the incident, law enforcement agencies have ramped up their presence in Telenga village as part of an intensified manhunt for the culprits involved in obstructing justice.
The situation has highlighted ongoing tensions within local communities, and authorities are urging residents to cooperate with the police to facilitate justice.
