Cracking the whip on unscrupulous traders, the Odisha State Central Tax and Goods and Services Tax (CT GST) enforcement wing on Thursday conducted simultaneous raids at three gutkha companies at four different locations in Puri and Khordha districts. 

The raids were conducted to ascertain suspected GST evasion by these dealers. 

The gutkha companies where the raids took place include, Koushik Enterprisers, Jagannath Multi Food and Tobacco and Divine Bacchus Private Limited. The officials from GST enforcement wing carried out raids at Koushik Enterprisers’ establishments at Puri and Jatni. At the same time, the Bhubaneswar units of Jagannath Multi Food & Tobacco and Divine Bacchus Private Limited were also raided. 

More details in connection with the raids are awaited. 

Worth mentioning that the Odisha State CT & GST Enforcement Wing on February 14 had raided a fly ash manufacturing unit and residence of the proprietor of Maa Sarala Fly Ash Bricks in Cuttack city for GST fraud to the tune of Rs. 4.38 crore.

Notably, Odisha’s gross GST collection in February month is the highest among the major states. The State’s Gross GST is Rs 4,101.09 crore, which is, when compared to the collection of the same month last year, 23 percent more. In February last year, the State Gross GST collection stood at Rs 3,340.56 crore.
