BJP’s Loisingha MLA Mukesh Mahaling on Tuesday had a close shave after two miscreants allegedly attacked his car near Burda chhak on Bolangir-Sambalpur road (NH-26).

As per initial reports, the two miscreants on a motorcycle intercepted the MLA’s car when he was returning to his village after attending a programme at Badibahal area.

As the two youths were creating nuisance by parking in front of the MLA's car, it was opposed by the driver and personal security officer (PSO) of the MLA. Aggrieved over it, two youths allegedly attacked the PSO and driver of the MLA after dragging them out of the vehicle.

"I was returning after attending an inauguration programme when two bikers came from behind and parked their vehicle infront of my car. When my PSO asked the duo to remove their bike, they attacked him. When my driver went to rescue the PSO, he was also attacked,” said MLA Mukesh Mahaling.

According to Mahaling, both his driver and PSO have been admitted to the hospital. “It is an unfortunate incident. Though I have no personal enmity, it could be the fallout of some political rivalry. But it is too early to comment on it now. I have informed local police and already a probe has started into the incident,” Mahaling added.
