The Bhubaneswar Police on Monday once again arrested BBA graduate-turned thief Sanjay Kumar Nishank for allegedly stealing innerwears and jeans of women. The cops have seized many innerwears and around 250 jeans of women of various brands from his possession.

He is known for stealing everything for his girlfriend. As per reports, he was planning to get married after selling the looted items.

This apart, a total of 450gm gold and 650gm silver were also seized by the police. The market price of the gold and silver is estimated to be around Rs 25 lakh, reports said.

Police arrested the notorious thief based on five complaints that were registered against him. He is an expert in stealing valuables, including gold and silver ornaments, from houses in different localities of Bhubaneswar, mostly during festivals and holidays.

A native of Atri area under Begunia in Khordha district, he will be interrogated by the police to find out his connection in other cases of theft and the technique he used to execute the crimes.

Speaking to OTV, Sanjeev Satpathy, SP, Zone-5 Bhubaneswar informed, “He is a habitual offender. Earlier, he worked as an agent of a food delivery company, he is well aware of all the roads and houses. So, he targets houses that are locked during day when the owners go to office. Taking advantage, he breaks open the lock and commits the loots.”

“He used the same pattern for all his loots. At least 5-6 cases were registered in various police stations in Bhubaneswar in the last 2-3 months. Most of the loots were committed during day. During CCTV footage examination, we identified Sanjay’s helmet that helped us crack the crime mystery.”

“He is committing such crimes since 2018. He was first arrested by Chandrasekharpur police and a huge amount of gold and silver ornaments had been recovered from his possession back then too. During interrogation, he confessed to committing the crimes to impress his girlfriend and gifted all the stolen items to her.”

“After coming out of jail in the first case, he maintained a low profile. But, now he is planning to get married and started the lootings once again. There are at least 18 cases against his name,” the SP concluded.
