With the police yet to make any headway in the mysterious death of Ganjam Gangapur Police Station Inspector In Charge (IIC) Deb Kumar Gamang even after days of the incident, wife of the deceased officer has demanded a proper investigation into the matter and speedy justice, on Sunday.

Speaking to media, Kiran Mohanty, wife of Gamang, said, “I want a proper investigation into the matter. There is no point in working with the Police department, if we are deprived of the justice.”

Refuting speculations on family dispute as reason behind Gamang's demise, she said, “We had no difference within our family. My husband was not able to come home often due to heavy work load.”

Meanwhile, claims made by Gamang's mother have given a new twist to the entire mystery surrounding the events and circumstances that led to the death of the young police officer.

The deceased police officer’s mother made shocking allegations and claimed before reporters on Saturday that '2 three star rank' police personnel were present with her son at home at the time of the incident.

“Two police personnel (three-star rank officers) were present with my son at home. They (guests) asked me to go to the bathroom. Moments later, I heard the sound of gunshot and saw my son lying in a pool of blood when I came screech out,” the deceased officer’s mother had claimed.

Meanwhile, Ganjam SP Brijesh Ray said, “Scientific team is investigating into the matter. Every aspect of the case will be brought under the purview of investigation.”

Notably, Bhanjanagar SDPO and IIC had reportedly come to Gamang’s official quarters to discuss about an investigation into the murder case on Friday. It is said that Gamang sustained two gun shots wounds on his body, below waist. Subsequently, he was rushed to a hospital where he was declared dead by the doctors.

Police have engaged forensic and ballistic experts to probe the incident.
