With an aim to transform the urban public transport scenario, the 'Mo Bus' service was launched in 2018. However, the recent cases of alleged theft in Mo Buses in Bhubaneswar have irked people.
As per reports, miscreants looted at least two mobile phones from the passengers of Mo Bus in Bhubaneswar on Friday. Though police took action after getting information, the looters could not be nabbed.
"I boarded the bus at Fire Station square to come to Jayadev Vihar. I found my mobile phone missing within a few minutes after boarding the bus. Police even came and conducted a search but it was not found," alleged a commuter, Prabhas Ranjan Sethy.
These types of stealing are happening almost every day and now, people are fearing to board Mo Bus. "There are CCTVs installed in the buses but such incidents continue to happen. The authorities concerned should take the matter seriously in the interest of the passengers," he added.
"I tried to board a packed Mo Bus near Jayadev Vihar chhak. In the blink of an eye, my mobile was stolen. I cried for help and even requested the Mo Bus staff to stop the bus so that the passengers can be frisked, but they didn't stop it," said another victim of mobile theft in the Smart City, Ankit Kumar Nayak.
Nayak further alleged that the involvement of the Mo Bus staff in the theft incidents cannot be ruled out.
Meanwhile, complaints have been lodged at Nayapalli Police Station in Bhubaneswar in connection with the incidents and investigation is underway to nab the miscreants.
