The Odisha capital Bhubaneswar is increasingly becoming an unsafe place for gold jewellers with frequent reports of loot from the traders dealing with the yellow metal.

In yet another instance, three bike-borne miscreants allegedly looted the brother of a jewellery shop owner and his salesman by opening fire at them when they were returning home near Samantarapur in Bhubaneswar at around midnight on Monday.

The shop owner and his salesman sustained severe injuries in the firing. They have been admitted to Capital hospital for treatment.

As per reports, the brother of a jewellery shop owner and his salesman were returning home after closing their shop around midnight. Three bike-born miscreants chased them and tried to snatch away their bags near Samantarapur after holding them at gunpoint. When the duo tried to resist, the miscreants opened fire at them, snatched the bags from them and fled from the spot immediately.

The pair sustained severe injuries in the gunshot. They were admitted to the Capital hospital in a critical condition with the help of local people.

Upon being informed, local police reached the spot and started an investigation into the case.

As per some locals, the miscreants fled away along Dhauli-Pipili road.

Notably, the gold jewellery shop owners in Bhubaneswar are in a state of panic as these loot incidents are repeatedly happening in the Capital city. Earlier, gold jewellery shop owners have been looted at gunpoint in Janla, Delta and many other places in the city.
