Some unidentified miscreants allegedly looted wires and other equipments from the office of the senior section engineer of the Railway department near Gate no 119, Bhadrak railway station after tying the lone employee at the office. The value of the loot items is pegged at Rs 7 lakh.
The incident occurred on February 21 late night but the incident recently came to fore after the Railway police have started investigation into the case.
According to a source, like any other day Md Kurban, a native from Islampur of Bihar, had his dinner and came to the office. He went to the ground floor of the office to sleep. As he was going to sleep, some six to seven masked miscreants entered the room and before he could understand anything they started beating him up mercilessly.
Hearing the commotion and cry of Md Kurban, Ashok Maharaj, the driver, who was staying on the first floor, came to his rescue. But the miscreants didn’t spare him. They thrashed him before tying their limbs.
Thereafter they looted valuable equipment including jumper wire, small jumper, large span wire, bridle wire etc. from the store room of the office and decamped in a truck.
Registering a case, the Railway police have launched a probe into the case.
“On being informed, we reached the spot and found the information to be true. We launched a search operation in the nearby areas but to no avail. Our investigation is underway,” said R Shankar Rao, in-charge, Government Railway Police station, Bhadrak.
