Three masked miscreants looted cash worth lakhs of rupees from the staff of a petrol pump, located near Chhannagiri under Jankia Police Station limits of Khordha district, at gunpoint late Tuesday night.

The entire incident was captured in a CCTV camera installed at the fuel station. The footage was provided to the channel by the authorities of the filling station.

The CCTV footage purportedly showed three youths came to the fuel station on a bike. Two of them barged into the cash counter of the filling station while the third youth could be seen guarding them outside.

The two youths entered the office and brandished a gun at the two staff of the petrol pump, who are engaged in counting cash at that time. Subsequently, the two robbers snatched away the cash box from them and fled the spot on their bike.

The manager of the filling station, Amar Harichandan said, “We were counting the cash when two youths entered the office and threatened us with guns. They later snatched the cash box from me and fled the spot.”

Though the exact amount of money looted from the staff is yet to be ascertained, the owner claimed the cash box contained over Rs 2 lakh. A case has been lodged in this regard at Jankia Police Station.

The incident has triggered fear among the locals who questioned the safety of the people engaged in emergency services during the curfew hours (9 pm to 5 am).
